the life of a travel blogger

Blogging is something that is completely new to me, almost as new as traveling. Sure I've read some blogs before, if you can count Perez Hilton among a varied list of gossip and special interest blogs. Never, though, have I attempted to write one. Growing up, I was never very good at keeping up with diaries. I would start and a month later my interest would have moved on. This blog will not be like those diaries. Instead, I have started this to detail my travelings. The few times I have traveled, a year would go by and it just seemed like a distant memory. Hopefully this blog will allow me to recollect my travels for years to come.

The first time I can remember traveling was with my family to Disney World. My only memories from the trip are from the pictures and videos my family took. I think I was just too young at the time. During the years as I grew up, my family made a few more trips to Florida, mostly to Panama City, it's where Kentuckians go to vacation.

Freshman year of college came the first vacation that I can really remember taking. I've always been dedicated to my schoolwork, after all I went to college on an academic scholarship. The opportunity arose for me to skip a week of classes and go with my family to Key West. Though school was important to me, family and travel meant more. That week spent in Key West was amazing, and the drive there gave a new idea to the term travel. During that trip I picked up the travel bug. A year later I went on vacation, again to Panama City for Spring Break.

The first time I flew in an airplane was a month before my 21st birthday. I decided to jump on an opportunity to study abroad; two weeks spent in London, England. Following that, I went on an 8-day cruise with my sister, I interned in Washington DC for a semester, and I took a 9-day road trip with my parents out West. There is just too much to say about those trips for an introductory post. One day I may try to recollect them here. In the mean time, I will move on to the most current trip, another road trip, this time to the Northeast. More to come on that soon.
